Crypto Quantique named as Finalist in Awards for Europe’s Hottest Tech Startups

Chip fingerprinting IP and cloud software platform create uniquely simple and cost-effective architecture for IoT device security

LONDON, June 14th, 2021 — Crypto Quantique, a specialist in quantum-driven cybersecurity for the internet of things (IoT), has been named as a finalist in the DeepTech category of the Europas 2021 industry awards. The awards, which this year will run as a virtual event, recognize Europe’s Hottest Tech Startups and Crypto Quantique was selected after a public vote followed by evaluation of its entry by a distinguished panel of expert judges.

The company’s Q:Architecture is a combination of semiconductor hardware IP (QDID) and a universal IoT security platform (QuarkLink) for connecting IoT devices to in-house or cloud servers. Q:Architecture bridges the IoT security gap by enabling thousands of IoT devices to be connected to hosted applications in a matter of minutes – a task that usually takes months. Engineers without specialist IoT security knowledge can use the technology which automates security protocols enabling them to be implemented with just a few keystrokes. The hardware IP creates unique fingerprints within the semiconductors at the heart of IoT devices to ensure the highest levels of security.

Crypto Quantique’s CEO, Shahram Mossayebi, said, “It’s a great privilege to be selected as the only semiconductor finalist in the Europas Deeptech category this year. With recent cyberattacks on everything from oil pipelines to meat suppliers, the world is waking up to the urgent need for better security. As billions of IoT devices are connected to the internet every year, it’s at these endpoints that security must start. That’s where we started, giving each chip that powers an IoT device a unique identity and cryptographic credentials in a way that is economical but highly secure, even in a future post-quantum world.”

About Crypto Quantique

Crypto Quantique has created the world’s most secure end-to-end IoT security platform. At its heart is the world’s first quantum-driven semiconductor hardware IP, called QDID, that generates multiple, unique, unforgeable cryptographic keys for devices manufactured using standard CMOS processes. The keys do not need to be stored and can be used independently by multiple applications on demand. When combined with cryptographic APIs from the company’s universal IoT security platform, QuarkLink, the solution creates a secure bridge between silicon, device, software, and solutions provider.

The company, which is based in London, UK, was co-founded by Dr Shahram Mossayebi (CEO), an expert in cryptosystems, and Dr Patrick Camilleri (VP Research & Innovation), a semiconductor designer with significant experience in complex parallel computer systems.
